Apple Watch 4 and Gaia gps
Whenever I start Gaia on my Apple Watch 4 it gives the message ‘disconnected’ even though the watch and phone are paired correctly and Gaia is up and running on the phone.

I tried uninstalling Gaia GPS from my phone and reinstalling, uninstalling from my Series 4 watch and reinstalling, but to no avail. I finally was able to solve the issue by force restarting the Apple watch itself. See here for how to force restart the Apple watch: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204510

Hi. I test my Watch 4 with the version 1.9.1
Once the iPhone and the Gaia map is ON, I can connect, see the map on the watch and the data. But once i switch off the iPhone, the watch freeze (map with the heart turning).
I check all options in the iPhone to keep the app alive, no eco, with data, etc
I notice there is NO Gaia in the “background Run” option!!
What can be the problem!? -
Hey @mp
The Gaia GPS watch app works as a remote for the app on your phone and the watch will need to stay connected to your phone to display maps and data. As long as Bluetooth is turned on on your phone, Gaia GPS will be able to display information on the watch.

Thanks for the replay Robyn
I check and the Bluetooth is always ON on my device. (Other apps use and confirm that)...and my watch is always connected.
When I said ""switch off..", it is in fact the screen is off, the device and the Gaia app still running because the Gaia app still record correctly the track.(no drop or lost waypoints)
I try with different map, still freezing when the iPhone screen is off.
It is clear that when the iPhone Gaia app is just going to "background" (but still record track), the communication with the Watch Gaia app is stopped.
Once i display/recall the Gaia app in front, the Watch is updated !
I did not find the Gaia app in the "background running" setup !! This is strange .(see pict)
I do not see where is the problem !?
Gaia app 1.9.1
Thanks for the help.

Hi Marc,
Can you check that Gaia GPS has permission to 'Always' use your location information?- Open your phones Settings app> Scroll down to Gaia GPS> Location> Always
Also, can you try force restarting your watch like @Sierra_Shaver mentioned above? If you're still having trouble, can you click here to contact support directly so we can take a closer look at your account?
