Automotive Use
I use Gaia GPS exclusively for overlanding in my 4WD excursion vehicle. I've got an iPad centrally mounted in landscape orientation above my dashboard.
What is most frustrating about using Gaia GPS in a moving vehicle (even if the vehicle is crawling along slowly or is being operated on smooth highway pavement) is the tap controls are way too small and seem to require very precise positioning of one's finger to activate them. Specifically the button used to center the map/orient map towards heading is nearly impossible to tap the first try and requires multiple taps to finally get it to register. My navigator isn't even trying to drive the vehicle and she struggles to accurately tap that button while we are moving.
I'd love to see a mode or interface where, maybe we lose some of the status bar "slots" to allow the essential controls to be enlarged and have a larger "hit box" to be tapped upon. The status bar is generally impossible to read when using the iPad in this fashion as the text is too small, not bold enough and too far away from either the driver or navigator. I'd happily exchange the status bar for some easier to tap controls.
