Snap-to-trail not working at all
AnsweredFirst time using GAIA, finally got a bluetooth GPS receiver to use with my iPad.
I can't get the snap to trail feature to work at all. No matter where I try to make a trail i just get a straight line even if im in hiking mode.
I've seen others have this issue too, has a fix been found?
I can't get it to work on my iPad, iPhone or in any of my browsers, everything is updated to the most recent versions.

Now it just started working for me... maybe I'm crazy.

Sorry for the confusion. There was a bug affecting the Snap-to-Trail feature yesterday which has been corrected. If you are still having an issue snapping a route, please click “Submit a Request” above to contact the support team and include the coordinates of the trail.

I'm finding it works sporadically. I can get it to snap for the first few legs, then it switches to a straight line (all on the same, well established logging road trail, and all is the same "hiking mode.") I've tried zooming in and out, starting with a new route---nothing fixes it. This is such a fabulous tool, so when it doesn't work it is incredibly frustrating.

@cwcassella
I'm sorry for the trouble. The trail will need to be marked on Gaia Topo in order for the route to snap to trails.
Can you please click Submit Request above and send us the coordinates and description for the route you are creating? We will then be able to see if there are any gaps in the trail marked on the map.0 -
I have trouble with the route snapping to trail, it seems to work sometimes. The compass arrow does not show the direction of travel, despite which mode I have selected. I have had so many problems learning my way around this app because when something isn't working, I don't know that it's not working and I blindly go where no man has gone before. I've now got so fed up with it that I've decided to delete the damn thing and try something else.

gly986,
I'm sorry you are having trouble with the app, I'd be happy to help.
For the issue you are having with your compass arrow, I recommend setting your location services to 'Device/GPS only' mode. This will improve your GPS accuracy and help the app determine your direction of travel.
Here is where to find that setting.
Please email support@gaiagps.com if that does not help. Also, please send us a link to the route that was not snapping to the trail and a description of the path you are trying to make and we can take a closer look at what is going on there.0
