I would like to use this beautiful app for a couple somewhat novel applications:
1. In-cockpit aircraft takeoff distance measurement; i.e., aircraft performance evaluation
2. 0-60 mph distance determination; i.e., automotive acceleration performance evaluation.
Scenario: From a dead stop (airplane or auto), pilot/driver starts a Gaia "trip" on a Gaia-GPS equipped device. When the target speed (or liftoff) occurs, the operator "stops" the trip and obtains a record of the GPS distance (which is of perfectly adequate precision for the intended purpose: a few feet out of ~ 1000 feet).
Your app is superbly suited for this task, except for one problem that I have not been able to work around: The "trip" distance counter does not stop on the first timer box touch, but only after a second "finish track" or "Pause Recording" screen touch. That extra second or two ruins the accuracy of the measurement; the airplane/auto are moving at ~ 100 feet/second at that point.
An option to "stop distance accumulation on initial timer touch" would completely resolve this issue, and create a useful new capability and audience for the app.
