The downloads continue to be so slow to make the app useless. I am attempting a download of multiple maps of Death Valley National Park. Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 tablet.
Gaia Topo (feet)
Nat Geo Trails Illustrated
If I go to my downloads screen I see all the downloads that are pending. It appears that Gaia downloads one at a time. I base this assumption on the fact that only one download shows spinning circle. The first download is Gaia Topo (feet). This map is 164286 tiles and 734.4MB. I started the download on Sunday evening and it is now Thursday evening. So far 85254 tiles have downloaded. A little more than half. I am not sure if half the tiles = half the file size. Regardless, this is so slow it is ridiculous. It isn't even downloading 100MB in a 24 hour period. I have high speed internet and get between 75 - 100 MBPS through my home wifi.
I think I have read some posts here that even said Gaia Topo should be the fastest to download. I assume that comes from Gaia's servers. I realize the Death Valley National Park is a large area, but if this is download speeds people should expect then please let the users know this. At least we can then make an informed decision (and start downloading maps at least a month in advance of any trips).
I previously deleted/reinstalled the app (on gaia's recommendation) when I had this problem before. immediately after reinstall it seemed to download faster. Delete and reinstall is not a good solution as one has to start from scratch on all map downloads.
I am really trying to like this app, please help.
