travel modes: change to hiking
My screen is blank at the bottom of the map so I do not have the icons for map, trip, etc. and can't change the mode to hiking. Does anyone know how to change my setting so I can find the map icon to change to hiking mode?
Thanks

Hi g,
If you are using gaiagps.com (as opposed to the mobile app) you can find the mode selection icons in the left sidebar after starting your route. Here are some instructions for that: https://help.gaiagps.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003524567-Using-the-Main-Map-on-GaiaGPS-com

Thanks. I should have clarified that I am on my iphone Gaia app. After I press the map icon and start building a trail the bottom of the screen goes white (blank) so there are no icons for choosing modes of travels. Do you know how to restore to have those available? I tried deleting and reinstalling the app but still have this problem. On the website on my computer there isn't this problem.
Thanks,

Hi g,
Is there any chance that some other icons in the app have disappeared, too?
If so, I think the app could've accidentally got set to show white icons instead of green ones. To fix it, you can go to Settings > Appearance and change the color preference.
Can you give that a shot and let me know if it helps?

Yes, all the icons disappeared I tried making the color dark green but it did make icons visible. I think you are on to the right idea because that empty space at the bottom is where the icons are before i start making a trail and they disappear but the space remains
Thanks

Ashli, I put a screen shot above. Notice when I go to create a route the bottom of my screen is blank so I can not pick a [hiking] mode. The default mode must not be hiking because the trail created doesn't follow the trails on the map rather makes straight lines. Please let me know if you have any ideas for fixing the problem. Thanks, g

Hi again,
Thank you for the extra details -- it looks like this is a bug in our current version for those using iOS 10.
We've got an update in beta testing right now that will fix this, but for a quicker fix:
1) Let me know if you'd like to get added as a beta tester so that you can use the update right away
or
2) You could update to iOS 11 and the button should re-appear
