Removing a loop on a route to reroute

I've created a 2,000 mile road trip and I'm trying to remove one loop and add in a slightly different one. I've added in the loop up to Crater Lake and now want to remove the Klamath Falls one, I've tried to take away the waypoints and point and it turns into a hot mess second guessing where I want to go, even taking me back to my departure point. I feel this is something that should be easy to do but can not work it out. I really don't want to start again!  Any ideas? An erase tool would be super handy here.
