Missing Dispersed Camping Info on MVUM Layer
I am deeply frustrated that the MVUM (USFS) premium layer lacks key features:
- 'Dispersed Camping, Both Sides', and/or
- 'Dispersed Camping, Left Side', and/or
- 'Dispersed Camping, Right Side'
These features are standard on all paper USFS MVUMs and clearly noted in their legends, yet GAIA GPS chose not to include them in the MVUM layer.
As paying users, we expect better. These notations should be part of the MVUM premium layer—if not, they must be added to GAIA Overland or classic map layers. It's unreasonable to rely on additional map programs like Avenza or other apps when this information is already part of the MVUM data.
This omission undermines the value of the premium layer.
Dispersed camping is very popular among Gaia users. Including dispersed camping details would greatly improve trip planning and is a basic expectation for a service marketed as 'premium.'
You can see in the attached images, what this looks like on the MVUM (highlighted in yellow), and that current Gaia layers don't include it.
Why has this not been addressed?"

+1. I bought premium just for this feature so to find it missing is jarring and unacceptable.

Absolutely this.
If OnX Offroad can do it, surely Gaia can, too. In fact, that feature is what compelled me to actually install OnX for the first time.
I’ve been using MVUM since before Gaia existed and cross referencing between multiple maps to make routing and camping decisions is still a huge time-suck that I hate. I was profoundly disappointed to see this info missing from the MVUM layer.
P.S. if this does get added, one way to differentiate Gaia from OnX would be to actually include the “one side only” data. OnX only highlights routes which are “both sides”, showing nothing for stretches that allow one side.
