Taking Gaia from 1997 to 2024
Let's get this app into the 20th century, shall we?
1. ALL apps, all data from ALL devices. ALL that's everyone ALL devices should be linked to my account via the website. It should either look the same for all devices, or it should allow me to manage the data, maps, waypoints, routes for ALL devices through my account on the website. I accidentally downloaded a map and routes, and their are 75,000 waypoints. I need a way to wipe ALL of then out by folder, search, storage location, etc... So improvement 2.
2 Saved data should be accessible through folders for mass deletion and maintenance using standard windows folder directory capability. I need to SEE all data, in map/route/waypoint files that allows me to delete waypoints and routes through file management options through windows. This provides the means that you do not have build out tools sets for people. We use already defines directory structures that are decades ahead of your design. In mu opinion, it makes it easier on you guys in the long run.
3. Stop current downloads. If I make a mistake and Gaia is downloading 10,000 maps and waypoints, there does not appear to be a way to stop it.
4. By providing directory structures that can be managed outside of Gaia through standard operating system utilities, and also allows Gaia to read these directories, it would put your app at a completely different level. Gaia could dump 10,000 maps with 50,000 waypoints to organized folders, and, and I can manage them in minutes, instead of days or week. It would allow me to download plan a Sierra Neveda trip, and three months later, I can delete them all, back them up, remove them so Gais does not read them, and then download and plan another 50,000 maps and waypoints for the Grand Canyon three months later. I can organize visible chunks of the routes and waypoints using folder directory structure that are 40 years ahead of your design, and once you make these design changes, you can let operating systems drive 80% of the maintenance.
I'm having this issue right now, and I am spending days trying to clean it up on one device because you system lacks the integration that would be obvious to a junior developer. I can say this with confidence because that's been my job for the p[ast 30 years working with $500,000,000.00 enterprise applications. It use to be difficult to do this in the 90's and early 2,000's. Now? With cloud? It almost writes itself. There is no excuse for now being able to sync up data between my account and multiple devices.
Sorry if I sound like an ass, but you need some series must have improvement.

I agree - syncing, folder structure, etc. is HORRIBLE, and they haven't fixed things that have been broken for years. If I have many way points in folders and sync them, Gaia will often move them around the folder structure in unexpected ways, so that I have everything dumped into the top folder, or some things left in the originals. It's entirely unpredictable. Why can't they spend the money to fix their software so it's dependable??
