Android app startup and resume much slower now

Recently (a week or two), the Android Gaia GPS app startup and resume are much slower now - taking 10 - 30 seconds to start or rendering after resuming the app.

This seemed to coincide with the app forcing me to sign in/convert to an Outside account.

Please fix this slow down - it makes the app much less usable in the field.

  Yep. It's so bad it never loaded yesterday because I had no cell phone reception.

  All that because it forces me to login to Outside. I don't care about Outside, I just want to log in to GaiaGPS and that doesn't need cell phone reception. How do I go back to that?
