Offline elevation calculation very inaccurate (>1000ft off)
I'm using GaiaGPS on Android in the backcountry, and I download offline maps with offline route data and 3D maps enabled.
However, I'm seeing highly inaccurate elevations when I select a point on the map for planning, waypoints, etc. while offline.
For example, at this location I'm at about 6550' elevation. GPS is giving 6600' elevation (shown at top), which is close. I click on a point on the map adjacent, wait for the slow offline elevation calculation, and then ... 5200' elevation is shown (under Marked Location), which is incredibly inaccurate and makes GaiaGPS practically useless for elevation relation planning.
If I return to an area with signal/Internet access, the elevation data for the point clicked returns to being accurate (6572' at the point clicked) - but another issue is occasionally it never displays.
Is there any workaround to get more accurate offline elevation data?
Other related issues:
- The offline elevation calculate takes a long time - I'm estimating 15-30 seconds.
- I create a route while offline and look at elevation profile - it shows a flat 0' instead of the elevation profile.
