Tracks

So I use my Android phone on my Motorcycle to track my rides.  I hit the red record button and ride for several hours at a time.  The problem I am having is that as I use my phone for other things like music or texting.  When I go back to the GAIA app the recording has stopped, this also happens as I stop my bike and on power fail the phone goes to sleep.

How can I keep tracking on until I turn it off?
