Incredibly Slow Download for Samsung Tablet A7 Lite

I have side by side a Samsung Tab S7 and a Tab A7 Lite.  The S7 downloads at a reasonable speed, perhaps hours to download a large map, but the Tab A7 Lite takes days.

Conditions:

• I have a 500 Mbps down internet service. 
• Wired or wireless to the Tablet makes no difference in Gaia Download speed but both the wired and wireless test close to 500 Mbps

• I have selected the SD card for storage while the Gaia app remains in the device storage.  The SD card is a top-notch quality card and exceeds the speeds of the device recommended by GaiaGPS. 

Does anyone have a similar experience with the Tab A7 Lite?

I am considering a better-performing tablet like the Samsung S6 Lite.  Its a bit large for my vehicle mount use but it may be the tradeoff I have to make.
