track editing
Thanks for posting. No, Gaia GPS doesn't have the ability to edit tracks outside of cropping the start/finish but you can export your track to a 3rd party program and edit it.
- Follow these steps to export your track as a GPX file
- Then, I recommend using http://www.gpxeditor.co.uk/ to edit the track line."
I have tried this and these GPX editors need me to pay more money to them. I have already paid good money for Gaia, and I think it is pretty poor that you cannot edit points on a track within GAIA.
Does GAIA have any plans to improve their system so that I can edit points? Whenever I record a track there are always some points where the GPS has inserted a rogue position, maybe because of poor satellite signal. These points are easy to see on the map of the track and I should be able to delete them. Why not fix it?

Yes please to track editing. I migrated from basecamp, and before that map source, and they both had track editing. Great for planning trips through the woods before heading out. Routes are not useful for trip planning, as you have to create dozens of waypoints and there is no autorouting in the woods.

Great that we can crop, but when are we going to get the ability to add tracks together? It’s kind of ridiculous that I need to use a different software to add tracks together and re import. Also the ability to build a track would be good. Routes don’t work well for offroad applications.

I've had similar issues with inaccurate GPS points in my tracks and it's really annoying that you can clearly see them but there's no easy way to fix them.

Yes. I would like to be able to snip out a section of the track. e.g. if you forget to pause recording during a break you end up with a big "hair ball" in the track. Be nice to be able to snip it out.

It looks like this has been a long-standing request by many subscribers. I've had similar needs several times a year and the “other app” solutions simply do not work very well because of differences in various maps they use as a base. The major problem is that GPS on a smartphone is typically only accurate to +-15' which is a LOT. All I want to do is reposition, trim or extend, and smooth a recorded track using my Windows PC while also allowing for changing track or route colors, line thickness, etc. Pretty basic stuff. Too bad Gaia doesn't listen to its' subscribers.
