Routes does not snap to existing highways in web app

The subject pretty much says it all. When I attempt to make a route using existing highways, it refuses to snap to the highways; instead, it goes to smaller side streets. It seems Gaia is not "highway-aware." I tried Gaia Overland and Gaia Topo classic maps. I have seen the issues mentioned before but I haven't seen solutions.

  A year later, I'm now experiencing this problem. I supposed Gaia isn't meant for long interstate highway travel, but there are some routes within areas of interest that overlap with some interstates.
