"Create Route" always draws straight lines.
Hello,
I'm using the web version of GaiaGPS and if I try to create a 'driving' route, if I can't see starting point on the screen when I choose an end point it always draws a straight line.
I've also noticed if I draw a route along a freeway GaiaGPS will suggest taking an exit and then getting back on the freeway somewhere else before the end point. It does seem to want to follow freeways.
Any ideas?
Here's an example of a route where GaiaGPS makes a straight line:
https://www.gaiagps.com/map/?loc=16.2/-120.5469/46.9785&pubLink=QDkbPM7oZqf77QgM3pQEMSAv&trackId=054930f8-e128-4994-90e2-d36e4ced0cb3
And here's an example of GaiaGPS making weird exit/enter suggestions while driving on a freeway.
https://www.gaiagps.com/map/?loc=10.7/-121.0543/47.1949&trackId=cda37288-0be2-4817-8dbf-66870aeb9fa8
Makes it really hard to plan long trips.
Thanks!
EDIT: Also a bonus question, can I use existing waypoints to create a new route? It would be nice if I could save waypoints first, then create a route by just selecting the waypoints in order. Is there any way to do that?

I totally agree that Gaia is not the best app in finding the best route. To solve some of your problems:
1.Always be sure that the waypoints in your route al on the road. I noticed that sometimes if you are slightly of track it will start drawing straight lines. And beware that the roads that you see on the screen are not always the roads that are used in the background by the computer. The can be slightly of as well (I do not think that that will be the case with highways, but it is with hiking paths). In your example the waypoints are on a building and not on the road.
2. In your second example your first point is placed on the left side of the road, so you will first have to drive back to an exit. The last waypoint is on the left side of the road as well.
In the middle of the route the route is taking an exit, that totally aligns with my idea that Gaia is not the best in making routes. You will always have to use your own brains and add an extra waypoint on the highway if you think it ca be better.
Good luck
