Unfortunately, it is not possible to access Gaia GPS from a computer while offline.

There is no app for desktop or laptop computers; however, you can access your maps and data on gaiagps.com while connected to the internet.

For offline use, download the Gaia GPS app to an Android or Apple mobile device.

It should be possible on M1 Macs with near zero developer effort. It would also be a far better experience than just the web interface.

@pmi would be cool to plan the trip in the app and download offline maps on Macbook. With the M1 you can simply run the iPad app.

I also want this so I can buy just a Macbook (not an iPad in addition). I want to create and edit routes while on my bicycle tour across the USA and we will be in many areas without cell signal.

    thanks

I would prefer to use ios version on Mac OS laptop as well:

The web product seems poorly and inconsistently designed, quite slow and even buggy (for example failing folder containment updates, visibility, etc.) compared to the pretty slick tablet and iphone apps.

Also would mean feature parity, same UI, and same code ➟ better customer experience AND less work to develop and maintain for gaia. Thumbs up !

I did this last year, but don't have it setup currently.  As best I can remember:

    Install iMazing on your Macbook.

Install Gaia GPS on your iPhone/iPad.

iMazing has a feature where it can transfer that app to run directly on your Macbook.

Gaia worked, but wasn't as stable as one might hope.

It's really disappointing how few developers are opting to take full advantage of the new features of the features of the M1/M2 products.

+1. The consistent user interface and workflow would be nice to have on Apple silicon.
