New app position lagging and showing delayed position
AnsweredYesterday, my beloved Gaia app stopped working with the notice from my phone that it was no longer supported by the developer. I searched for and downloaded the new, very different version. I began following a gpx route that I downloaded from Strava premium, which is what I've been using this app for exclusively for more than five years.
The new app is useless for this purpose because it does not show live raw GPS moving map position and compass corrected direction, like the old app did. It interferes with the data to smooth the display and prefers streets and highways. It stops moving for up to a minute at a time, then suddenly lurches forward up to several street crossings or hundreds of feet ahead. Thus, I look down at my track to see if my next turn is approaching, only to find moments later that I've already passed it, the app decided to pause, and show me incorrect position until it made the decision on its own to move forward.
Can someone please advise if there is a way to turn off this "feature" in order to preserve the usability of this app for my purposes. I use the app for road and mountain bike track following. That is the only reason I paid for it. If it's possible to update the old app, that would be appreciated also.

Update on this. I've tried it again and what it is doing is updating position only once every 30 seconds or so. This makes the new app USELESS for cycling and probably running too. I am missing every turn. It's total junk and I hope someone actually reads this and finds a solution to this. Bring back the old app or fix the new one so it provides real time position data. I'm navigating through Germany and can't believe they broke and abandoned the old app with no warning.

Hi Michael,
Sorry for the trouble you are experiencing with your track recordings.
Please try these steps:
1) Set your Location Service to Always: Gaia GPS isn't locating me. How do I adjust iOS location services?- Go to Settings App > Privacy > Location Services
- Set Gaia GPS access to Never and quit the Settings App
- Then relaunch Settings and turn it back to Always
2) Turn your phone on and off a couple of times. This will delete any GPS errors that may have accumulated in your phone's GPS chip.
3) Make sure your phone is not in "Low Power Mode."- iPhone Settings App > Battery > Low Power Mode = OFF
If you continue to have issues, please contact support here and we will be happy to troubleshoot further: https://help.gaiagps.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
