Why are sections of my display blurry on USFS map?

I have used the iOS app quite a bit, but have not explore features and such very much. A couple days ago I was up in the USFS lands and using USFS map layer as usual when I got to a condition where the screen started blurring badly. I could see that there were features in the blur, but totally unusable. Unfortunately it happened when I was driving through new territory and needed it. This has happened several times now and generally there is a vertical or horizontal (or both) line separating good from bad. I assume this has to do with sections of the map missing or corrupt or something. Any thoughts? I really need to get this figured out. Thanks.
