Which elevation data is more accurate?
AnsweredHi community!
I have noticed that there is a difference in the «total elevation» shown for a specific route when comparing the data from edit mode with the data after the track is saved. So, which is more accurate, and why are they different? Would be great to have some insight to understand this so that I can plan my trips even more accurately.
(I know there is not much difference in the example, but this is a short hike. On longer hikes the difference can be several hundred metres.)

Hey there,
Sorry for the confusion.
We have an open bug report about this issue. I've added your comments to it.
We have referenced a third party GPS app while this issue is being worked on, and it seems that the elevation statistics reported when the route is saved in Gaia GPS are more accurate.
After your hike, If you're able to verify which of the two values is closest to true, it would go a long way to helping us troubleshoot this issue.
If you'd like to share your findings or if you need help with anything else, contact us here.
