Gaia reports 3 different max speeds
Hello, Team. I do RECORD TRACK on the iPhone while I'm biking. When I get home, I log in to Gaia on the computer to check the track and format some details. Since I am an engineer, I enter the time / distance / speed on a spreadsheet. Looking at Friday's ride, the phone says max speed 32.3 mph. On the website, finding my track on the left side of the screen (SAVED ITEMS), max speed is 35 mph. clicking on OPEN DETAILS PAGE brings up a graph where the max speed is 29.4.
oooh, this is interesting. On last week's ride, I had 39.5 mph max on the phone; 42 reported on the website, and 21.7 on the graph on the website.
so, wuzzup with this? Which number is correct, and why not use the same max speed everywhere? what do you reckon?

Well. Since you are an engineer - they definitely have 2 different algorithms to compute speed. Kinda makes sense if you think about it.
The mobile phone needs to compute it locally and when you upload the server will compute it. They only upload the gps coordinates and timestamps.
We at least know WHY ;)
