This App Seems Fundamentally Broken

I don't think anything is broken.

After you search for your trail, zoom in a bit and you should see the name of it.

When you tap on it and see other trails in the vicinity, those are user recorded trails. You could use those if you like, or simply create a route along the trail marked on your screen.

After you add a user recorded trip, or plan a route, you can view the elevation profile for it.

I see the name, but there is no way to determine the start or end of the trail I just searched for.  Below is a great example.  There are several trails in the area, but the app doesn't highlight the trail I just searched for.  It only displays a text box pointing to a single point on the trail.

In the second image below, you can see where I tapped on the trail name, but am given zeros for the trail details.  So, I have no way of knowing the distance or elevation profile of a trail.

    This seems absolutely worthless.

Here is what would be useful, click on the trail and it is highlighted in a way that shows the trail you just clicked on.  It should also show the distance and elevation profile of the trail.

    Hi again,

I'm not sure why the second screen didn't load for you, here is what it should look like:

We have a lot of plans for this specific feature. In fact, the 'public trips' you see are a brand new addition to the recent update.

Future plans include highlighting the trail, surfacing canonical trail pages, and bettering the search results, too!

If you'd prefer to get a refund, just shoot us an email and we'll help you get that sorted out.

    Thanks Ashli,

Can you give me any time frame on the implementation of these features?  Are they coming within the near future or are they quite a ways out?  I am happy to keep muddling through using the app but I don't want to blow too much money on yearly subscriptions before I actually get a usable product.

I don't have any sort of timeframe for new features -- sorry about that!

I actually think our website has the feature you're looking for already.

    Check out this link: https://www.gaiagps.com/map/united-states/oregon/mount-hood-wilderness-area/zigzag-mountain-trail-775/?layer=GaiaTopoRasterFeet&lat=45.3449&lon=-121.7839&zoom=14

When you search on the website, it highlights your trail, shows an elevation profile -- and if you click 'send to app' it will send the highlighted route to your phone, too.
