No, I was able to figure out the problem, it was just my tablet being difficult and had nothing to do with the app its self. Thank you for the concern, ya'll have done an excellent job with this app!

I'm having the same problem on a brand new Galaxy Tab S2. It would be helpful to provide the solution in these threads rather than sending private messages.

I'm sorry you are having an issue downloading maps.

I typically follow-up troubleshooting issues like this with a private message to protect users' privacy.

We can resolve this issue through this thread or via email.

If you don't mind sharing the details of your trip publicly, please let me know the map source you are trying to download and the coordinates of the area.

It looks like there was an issue when two of your offline maps were created. Sorry about that.

Deleting and recreating the offline maps will correct this.

Working on an iMac:   I find that the whole of New Zealand is broken up.  If I zoom in, then it brings up only sections and very quickly disappear into no picture.

Downloads on the iPad and iPhone stop at 35 - 40KB and there is no way it will resume download. Deleting them and re-downloading make no difference.

This is very unfortunate as I will be traveling tomorrow from Switzerland to New Zealand for a week's hiking!

PS:  Downloading maps in SwissTopo on the same devices works perfectly.

    @jdposthumus
The bug affecting the New Zealand Topo layer has been fixed and I apologize for the inconvenience this caused.

Please follow these steps to refresh the New Zealand Topo layer on your device:

    1. Remove New Zealand Topo from the Layers menu (iOS/Android)
      - open Gaia GPS > Layers menu > Edit > Australia/New Zealand > tap the red "x" icon next to New Zealand Topo
    2. Force close Gaia GPS
    3. Reopen Gaia GPS and wait 30 seconds
    4. Add New Zealand Topo back to the Layers menu

If your offline maps for New Zealand don't automatically begin redownloading, please follow these steps:(iOS/Android)

Maps don't seem to be downloading for me on Galaxy S9+. Trying to download Gaia Topo maps for Portland, OR area. Also tried USGS Topo and Satellite. Not working either. Any advice? I click download, select my area, click the resume download button, but it doesn't seem to be downloading.

Can you send the activity logs for Gaia GPS to support so we can take a closer look?

So I select the area and click the green "Save" button.

I get a grey "Starting Download" message in the bottom

When I go to the SAVE folder - I get a a "syncing" message for a few seconds. It comes and goes once or twice then disappears forever.

The map(s) never shows under my DOWNLOAD folder.

I am at home, with a very strong wifi and 4g signal.

    I am on a MOTO Z on Android 8.0.0

I have been experiencing similar issues with map downloads. However, it seems to sporadic for me.

In these cases, as you mention, it starts to download and shows the grey turning indicator that it is working. However, going to "SAVED", the map is there but only partially downloaded e.g. 75k for a map size of 5MB.  Trying to reactivate the download does not work. Deleting and trying to download again results in the same partial download.  WIFI strong as in your case.

However, other times large files download instantaneously and without any issue.  Very strange.

    I have iOS.

@TripMarshall, try changing your Saved list view from Downloads to Maps by tapping where it says Downloads at the top of the screen. The Downloads tab only shows in progress downloads, so I think the reason it disappears from that screen, is because it's finished :)

@jdposthumus It sounds like the issue you are experiencing may be specific to the map source you are trying to download. Some map sources have a size restriction based on the number of tiles being downloaded. Here's where to find individual tile limit for map sources. You can check if your map is over the size limit by tapping on the map download to view its details.

If you are still having trouble, please click Submit Request above to contact support and let us know the map source you are trying to download.

@ksdobg - Typically troubleshooting map download issues are specific to the map source trying to be downloaded.

Send us an email at support@gaiagps.com and let us know the name of the map download you are working with and which map source is not downloading. We will be then able to investigate what's causing the issue you are experiencing.
