    Hi Tom,

On iOS, if you increase your text size setting for your device, it will increase the text size on some of the maps, including MapBox Outdoors.

    Thanks, Ashli.

This is actually for website behavior. I noticed, after writing that question, that sometimes the labels do increase, and sometimes not. As I'm testing it again now, the labels do increase and are legible, so it seems inconsistent. There also seem to be inconsistencies as to which labels are omitted at various zoom levels. I realize the algorithm has to decide how to present the information without excess clutter, so maybe it's just an unavoidable tradeoff.

    Tom,

If the labels seem consistently small on a particular map at a specific zoom, feel free copy the URL of the map page and paste it here so I can see what you're seeing.

Thanks, Ashli. Maybe I'm just being fussy, but here's the URL:

    https://www.gaiagps.com/map/?layer=MapBoxOutdoorsHD,CalTopo,USTopo&lat=43.0069&lon=-77.8008&zoom=16

    Hi,

Those do seem small. I opened an issue for the development team to review. FYI the labels belong to the MapBox Outdoors HD layer. You could switch to another map (like MapBox Streets HD) for now.

Hi, I also have this issue using the Mapbox Outdoors HD base layer on the website. Any updates on when it might be fixed?

    This text is unreadable for me;

    https://www.gaiagps.com/map/?layer=usfs-mvum,MapBoxOutdoorsHD&lat=41.9281&lon=-88.9966&zoom=13

I tried this on a couple of different PCs so I'm pretty sure its not about screen resolution or browser zoom.

    Hello all,

I believe that Mapbox Outdoors HD will be the best map for me to use when I do a Hut to Hut ski in Austria next month. I am running into this same problem of teeny-tiny feature labels so I am creating waypoints for each Hut and/or feature of interest. This will help get around the problem of features being illegible. The problem that I have, however, is that after each waypoint that I create, the Mapbox Outdoors HD layer disappears from my list of choices. Is there something I can do about this?

    Thanks

    Hi Rob,

Can you click 'Submit a Request' above and send a bug report to the support team? Let us know what platform you're using (website/app) and the steps you take to replicate the issue.

I'll chime in that I've been having this issue as well and would love to see it fixed. I like the Mapbox Outdoors HD map, but it is difficult to use because of the (mostly) disappearing font. I work around the problem by including another layer like Open Hiking Map HD with more legible names and reduce the opacity on the second map.

Some map sources render text on Android (Galaxy S7 in my case) so small as to be unreadable.  The picture below is screen grab from my S7 (set to 1920/1080 screen res).  The text is already quite small. Now imagine it displayed on a 5.2 inch screen.  The text, trail labels, contour labels, is unusably small.

I have the same issue. The text and also the boldness of the topo lines, streams etc get smaller as I zoom in, and I can never read them, after the rescale happens.

I'm sorry the text in Gaia Topo is difficult to read, I think you might find one of these map sources works better for you:
