Offline Elevation Lookup for Routes

I would appreciate the ability to plot a route while offline and see the elevation profile for that route. A popular Gaia use-case for me while out in the wilderness with my downloaded maps is plotting on-the-spot alt routes based on whatever my needs turn out to be that day. Judging the difficulty of proposed alts would be facilitated by the ability to easily see elevation data. This seems not to be possible currently, even when using GaiaTopo.
