Lat and Long to UTMs on gaiagps.com
CompletedIt would be awesome if we could convert lat and long to UTMs on GiaGps.com. I use UTMs for work and have to constantly switch to my phone from my laptop to get this info...

Hello all,
Just popping in to share that UTM coordinates are now supported on the web.
You can change your coordinate format by clicking the gear on the main map and selecting UTM.

UTM on the website and...This is important... we need the coordinate datum for the maps you are providing. There is a significant difference between WG84 and NAD27 (and others) depending on which source was used to generate the map. This is a critical issue, and hopefully, you can address it asap. Thanks

The maps on gaiagps.com are displayed on the WGS84 datum and the app has to option to display either WGS84 or NAD27.

No, users actually want to use UTM formatted coordinates on the map. Grid overlays are nice, but that doesn't help very much when someone tells me they are stuck at 10S 0550777E 4186740N and that I need to go and help them get out.
It seems there has been progress made, if you go to Search / Coordinates box enter: 10S 0550777E 4186740N, it shows you a coordinate that is automatically converted to Decimal Degrees... so at least it will get you there... but there is no way to get a UTM coordinate back out of Gaia on the web map, right? Like to click on a point and see its UTM coordinates?
More professional mapping tools like CalTopo/SARTopo allow you to simply set your desired coordinate format (or more than one) and it shows you points with the system you prefer. Like most Search and Rescue teams use UTM for everything.

Yeah, many of the posts in the thread aren't as specific as they could have been, from a year ago someone wrote: "Please add unit selectivity we use UTM not lat long" which kind of narrows down the actual request. We want to input and read UTM coordinates on the web version of the map, since the mobile app does it so well I guess users expect feature parity between them.
I had converted most of my SAR Unit to using Gaia on their mobile devices, I still love the app and it is the best thing out there. But you know what? We've all switched to CalTopo (the iOS/Android app) now... it is not as polished, but it works seamlessly with their websites and includes live tracking of teams in the field... game changer!A huge part of that transition away from Gaia was the poor online mapping tools (which are improving!) and the lack of support for UTM coordinates.

No. All the new feature allows is to plot a waypoint by inputting a UTM. We should be able to work with our library of waypoints (I have a thousand or more) using UTM’s. On the website I can’t click on a waypoint and pull up it’s UTM coordinates. There is a reason the military and most professionals who must work with maps use UTM’s: it makes things so damned easy compared with Lon/Lat which was created for sailors.
