Display waypoint names on maps

I have imported waypoints from a Garmin device. The waypoints successfully show on the map; however, the only way to view the 6-character waypoint name (from the Garmin device) is to click on the waypoint on the map. Is there a way to display all the waypoint names simultaneously on the map? Do I need to use a different format when I import? I used a kml file exported from the Garmin device.

    Hi everyone, 

    With the release of the updated web map, you are now able to view waypoint labels on the map. 

    • Head to gaiagps.com/map to view the newly updated web map
    • Click the layers icon> scroll down to Overlays> click 'Waypoint Labels'

    I have the same exact issue/question. I would like the ability to turn on display of the names I have given to way points when in application and for printed maps.

    There is not currently a way to display more than one waypoint label simultaneously on the map.

    I’d also like to request that this feature be re-implemented. I found it very useful and used it all the time with the old version of Gaia.  I’m disappointed that it’s not in the new version.

    Displaying waypoint names conveys more information than identical icons and is far more powerful.  You and a friend have printed maps with many waypoints.  It is fast and efficient to say meet me at waypoint 005, for example, compared to meet me at that waypoint that is blah, blah, blah.... Until this feature is added, I must continue using a ten-year old application to print my maps.

    This is  a real drag, I actually bought this app specifically for this.  I had no idea I would not be able to display labels.  We are trying to create paper maps of local rivers for our first responders as they do not have smart phone access.  This won't cut it.

    Agreed, need to be able to display way point names all at once or only ones that are selected.  Frustrating and not value added to have to click on a way point and then when click another the first goes away.  Should be straight forward programming to be able to click the way points you want to display names for and print as well onto a map.

    I would like to have this option.  I am looking at migrating from a dedicated handheld GPS to a smartphone and have Gaia on my possible app short list.  This function could be a decision maker for me.

    Display waypoint labels needs to be an option in the map control settings.  With the limited set of waypoint icons provided, there is no simple way to determine what is nearby.

    I agree this is functionality I expected from the app. I use the app while riding and don’t have a free hand to click on the waypoint to find out that it say watch out for rocky section. Until this is implemented, I will need to look at what other apps are available.

    Please please please add this feature. Honestly, it would make this App perfect. It is a pain to have to click on the pin to see what it is. Would make exploring so much easier especially when driving off-road. Thanks for making an awesome program.

    Yes, Please add this feature to the app. I fly Helicopters on the west coast of British Columbia, we have many heli pad locations within a few square kilometers, we need to be able to see the names of each waypoint location on the map to be able to use use this app in the cockpit. Until we are able to see the waypoint names displayed on the map, we have to stay using our garmin GPS units. Which in my opinion are not as user friendly.

    For more than two years you have had legitimate requests for waypoint names to be visible. This seems like a basic feature that should be included in any mapping software. I was going to spring for the Premium Membership until I discovered this weakness.

    I appreciate being able to display all waypoint names on the web map.  I will add my name to the list of those requesting the ability to do this on the Android app as well.  A friend of mine is looking for an app that will do that specifically and would likely get a premium membership if it were available.

    Isn't Gaia all about being outdoors? Why is this feature only available when you're at a computer or otherwise on the GAIA website? Come on... this needs to be available to people who are out in the world.

    From what I remember reading it is only available on OIS and they are working on Android. Hopefully someone from the company can fill us in.

    Longtime user of BCN.  I'm on your site, ready to purchase 5-year premium for Android device (The 1900 and 1930's topo maps sold me). 

    In the process of checking that all features I need are available in your product - I hit this limit :(    This stops me in my tracks.  I cannot purchase.  I need this 100% to work on my Android mobile device in the field.  Please update us when you implement this feature to Android. :) Best wishes.
