no gps until activated

I have been a pro member for a few years now and I am transitioning to the new app, planning to change my membership from pro to premium.  However, I have not found the "no gps until activated" toggle in the new app—how is this issue handled, since it has been very useful for extended backcountry travel?  Thanks.

  We removed that in the new app. For now, you could change to the 'While Using' location setting for Gaia GPS in your device's general settings menu, and we are considering adding the "No GPS Until Activated" feature to the new app, too.

  This is a significant downgrade to the app for back-country use as we will now have to close the app constantly to save battery life. I strongly suggest you find a way to get this feature back into the app to keep it's function for this type of use.

  Thanks, jonescreek. It doesn't seem too difficult to understand that battery life is a safety issue—why wouldn't Gaia want to simplify and enhance our control of it rather than send us to third parties for advice? Do you want us to rely on the application or not? Is GaiaGPS not a backcountry app anymore?
