User friendly GeoPDF import
PlannedI would like to see a user friendly GeoPDF import feature added to Gaia GPS. I would like to easily add geo-referenced PDF topographic maps into Gaia. In Australia our government mapping authorities now make geo referenced pdf versions of the 1:25000 topographic maps available online for downloading to your PC.

Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to pop in with an update. Adding GeoPDF imports is something we are still excited about adding - while this is on the roadmap, the timeline has changed and is behind the originally predicted release date.
At this time, we are refraining from giving another ETA on this project.
Thank you everyone for your patience and feedback on different ways to improve the app. -
Im definitely interested in importing PDFs as well. for example:

I would prefer this on the website, not on iOS.
It seems like every state DNR and the US Forest Service all publish these PDFs and there is no way to use them in Gaia. I don't understand why I need to go to different websites, download a potentially crowdsourced inaccurate track, and upload it. This in the face of having official maps from trusted sources that I could just upload here. This is a real loss.

In case anyone at Gaia is reading this, I'm still waiting for GeoPDF support. All the maps on my favorite mountain biking website (www.evergreenmtb.org) are GeoPDF and I can't view them in Gaia.

I would love to hear an update from GaiaGPS on the status of this, even if you don't have an ETA. This is a big one for a lot of the people I work with, and they are switching to Avenza for that reason. I'm not really a fan of Avenza, but the ease of working withothers who use the same platform may force a move for me.

For 5 years we've been hearing "it's on the road map". Don't get your hopes up, folks.
In the meantime.... both Avenza and GAIA play a role in my workflow. They both provide a valuable service, and I'm happy to pay money for services rendered.
GAIA has features that I like (private land boundaries), and I just don't care any more about whether or not they add geopdf capability. I have a million apps on my phone- it's not a hardship to use two different ones for different GPS needs.

Might be true, but this is the first time in a really long time that an official answer has come.
As one of the requesters a long time ago, I’m encouraged by their response. Clearly they have been innovating the layers of late (trailforks, etc) so let’s continue to voice the needs for GeoPDF import.
Thanks Gaia, prove the detractors wrong and deliver this capability!

Being able to follow WA's DFW GreenDot maps in wildlife areas would be great. Currently I have to keep both GaiaGPS AND Avenza running on my iPhone at the same time to follow green dots (in Avenza) while recording tracks (in Gaia). It's battery-draining and, frankly, I'd like to be able to cancel my Avenza subscription :D
