Unable to log into app without wifi/data connection
I was up in BANFF last week and did not have a wifi/data connection and was not able to start and log into the app to use my maps that I had downloaded to my device.
It was only after I was able to get into cell phone service and get a wifi/data connection that I was able to successfully start up the GaiaGps app. Once I logged into GaiaGps I was able to use the app when I didn't have a wifi/data connection (because the app was already running and logged into).
I searched the FAQ and didn't see anything that related. Am I missing something?

Brad,
I'm sorry you had trouble using the app. A few notes:
1. It isn't possible to login to the app while outside of cellular or WiFi because it requires a connection to the server to do so.
2. You shouldn't have been logged out of the app, however. Do you think that you logged out manually, or that this was a bug in the app?
3. Basically what should happen is, once you're logged into the app, you'll stay logged in and you're able to use your maps whenever and wherever.

Somewhat of an inconvenient feature for an app that is intended to be used in the back country. Why can't credentials be cached (encrypted mode) and validated similar to what "active directory" does?
I had turned the device OFF while traveling to the location. When I went to turn it back on to use Gaia it I was already out of cell phone range. That is when I found I could not get into the app.

Hi Brad,
Your credentials should be kept.
It sounds like you somehow got logged out of the app before heading into the backcountry.
If you think this is a bug in the app, please click Submit a Request above to send a bug report to the support team.
Sorry again for the trouble!
Just make sure you are logged in before heading out next time and you should be all set.

I had a similar situation in Wyoming in September- but I was in cell phone coverage in Marbleton and could not open GAIA except for my stored map back in Washington. It kept saying my log on was incorrect.
Very frustrating watching another hunter with On X working well.

I had the same problem yesterday while I was out of cell signal. I never log out before the trip, and have downloaded the map. The screen displayed a message saying "Giagps" is now a "new company" , and asked me to login in...of course, I could not login and could not use my map.
When I came home with the internet signal, I did not need to login before using the app.
Couple of thing:
1. It should let he user to use for at least few hours, what would happen if one get lost without the app?
2. it is obviously a bug.

I had the same problem as donny-kwan yesterday while in the field. I had to reboot my iPad Pro in order use the app. This happened several times, as the app kept blinking out or freezing. At one point it would not reconnect to my BadElf and I had to give up verifying waypoints from a previous survey.

Hey @donny_kwan,
Sorry for the trouble.
Gaia GPS is now part of Outside. Last month we integrated your Gaia GPS account with Outside and the app was trying to re-authenticate your login.
If needed, you can reset your password here: https://www.outsideonline.com/#_forgot-password
Then, try logging in to the app with your new password.
This should not happen again. Please contact Support if you continue to have any trouble: https://help.gaiagps.com/hc/en-us/requests/new0
