Ashli, for the sake of the rest of us, would you mind sharing the answers to John's questions? I'm considering an apple watch series 3... I would like a choice of maps and if the Gaia app is polished and will work without being paired to an iPhone, I'd me more likely to get that over a Suunto or Garmin (very different watches, I know - just looking at all my options)

    Hi,

Sure. To be clear, the Watch app requires being paired with your phone still. We haven't created an independent watch app.

    1) Yes, SwissTopo is able to display on the Apple Watch

    2) To clarify, Gaia GPS doesn't record on the watch. It currently requires the main app to be recording on your device, and then sends information to the watch. You should be able to run both apps from your main device though to accomplish what you want.

    3) Yes, the new iOS app is available. Here is a link to it on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/gaia-gps-topo-maps-and-hiking-trails/id1201979492?mt=8

    4) The watch app is great for seeing your current stats and getting a quick glimpse at your current location.
