have some sort indicator icon when recording a track

@johngo, do you have the Record button hidden on the main screen? When I click Record in the upper left corner I get a dark green square with a lighter green 'on' indicator and a timer of how long the track has been recording. It is possible to put another item like Pace, Ascent, Altitude into that upper left area instead of the record button. Have you done that by chance?
As long as that Record button is the active item in the upper left it does provide a recording indicator. At least for me.

Hey Brian, thanks for your answer, and I appreciate you trying to help me.
You are correct, provided you have the status bar displayed and choose record track to be one of the many available options, then yes, It does very nicely show the elapsed time and the track is being recorded. This is what I would like to see on any screen anywhere when a track is being recorded. However, I often choose not to have the stats bar turned on.
Gaia has 3 ways (there may be more, I have only found three) to record a track. You can do so from the trip menu on the bottom of the screen, And you can do it from the "plus" Icon, a.k.a. the Phillips screwdriver the fourth one across the top, by tapping record a track. Here's my point. If the stats bar is turned off, and you accidentally swipe "record a track" when you meant to tap add a waypoint, the track recording starts chugging away in the background without giving any indication that it's doing so. Give this a try with the status bar turned off and you'll see what I mean.

I've often inadvertently paused a track. It would b nice to have a subtle indicator when in full-screen mode that a track is being recorded,. A slowly blinking white dot or nick on the return-to-normal button would be good. A steady dot could be used to show a track is active, but paused.
