Public/private land boundaries
Does gaia provide public/private land boundaries?
-
Yes, public land information is available and we are currently working on adding private land data as well.
Here is an example of the Public Land overlay near Flathead Lake, MT. -
Hi tlatham,
I have an open issue for that. Not sure when we will get access to the data, though.

How often are the land boundaries and ownership information updated? In my area of the Adirondacks of NY, many of the boundaries are way out of date, and sometimes the boundaries are correct but the ownership names are wrong. The state bought a lot of land in the last 10 years, yet the old owners are sometimes listed. My own property has correct lines, but no name (although my neighors who bought at the same time as I did are listed). This data appears to be accurate on the Essex County (NY) GIS Database.

@michael.t.vaughan
The information for the U.S. Private Land overlay comes from individual counties and states and is updated quarterly.
I'm sorry you have found inaccurate information on that layer. If you send me the following information, I can report the inaccurate information to the map provider:- a description of what is wrong with and what it should look like instead
- a screenshot
- a link to that area using on the gaiagps.com website
