Yep - it's gone. Here's an explanation from a dev on reddit:

    • he NEXRAD weather overlay is also gone in Gaia GPS Classic. A long time ago, Wunderground gave us permission to use an undocumented API to do that, but the server we were using was shut down.

    • The other weather stuff we removed from the new app because we didn't think it was well-done, and because very few people used it. As my partner Jesse said, "we don't want a third rate weather app inside our first rate mapping app."

    • We're considering improving and bringing back the tide graphs, but as far as getting weather forecasts online, it seems better for people to do that with a dedicated app, like Dark Sky. I could also see getting a new source for NEXRAD, but we've had more feedback from people asking us to restore tide graphs in the new app than NEXRAD.

I for one would LOVE to have a radar overlay on GAIA. I use the app while traveling and in thunderstorm season I would really like to know where those intense cells are, and which way they are moving, so I can avoid torrential downpours and hail.

Yes, I can always switch over to my Storm app, but then I do not have my track or position shown on the display, which is less than helpful.

I actually paid $5.00 to get Radar on my Garmin gps, but the feature does not overlay, it opens up a new low resolution map and you cannot zoom in closer than a 20 MILE range. How dumb is that !!!???

Please consider bringing back radar to GAIA. But make sure it functions when zoomed way in.

    Thanks.

I really miss the weather overlay too. Found it extremely useful especially when planning offshore fishing trips to determine where storms were in relation to my fishing spots. I have dark sky and Sirius weather on my boat, but having the ability to overlay weather with my waypoints and routes was way more useful than these.

Wish Gaia would find a way to bring back something similar to what we had with the NEXRAD overlay.

Just subscribed and was surprised to find that there was not a weather overlay. I would think most people that are using the app for backcountry navigation would want to have the ability to see weather radar in relation to their position in real time.

Would love to have a weather radar overlay, which apparently existed and went away before I became a member. The precip forcast thing is fair, but would love to have a live(ish) weather radar to see weather coming in on my location.

I used to use all the time when I was in the Army. Now that I am retired and getting back into hiking I really miss it!
