Only a matter of time...
I've been using GAIA for years and while there have been a few good updates, there continue to be a multitude of bugs that are not easily overlooked. The poor interface continues to be a grind as well. I march on because currently I do not see any good alternative (it's not OnX...that's terrible in different ways) but it is only a matter of time until someone puts out an alternative with a clean interface and everyone switches.
1. A useable folder structure that actually works (not the current one that doesn't put items in folders after you try to put them in folders, for example). Something updated since 1990 would be great.
2. Waypoints need to be smaller, or at least should zoom with the map. As they are now, they obstruct the trails and other features.
3. Waypoints should have the option of being independent or associated with a track/route. I might want a gas station to always be on the map, but I don't need a 'turn left here' marker on all the time in New Mexico when I'm in California, but I might want to see all the trails in New Mexico while I'm looking at an overview of the map. "Turn off all waypoints" does not solve this issue.
4. Waypoint text should zoom with the map. Like all other mapping software on earth and because I don't use a magnifying glass to read my device screen.
5. Auto-sync should actually auto-sync and not require me to manually sync. More than once I've used the web-based software to plan routes only to realize that once I was off-grid with my phone, the auto-sync did not auto sync and there's no cell signal to sync at that point. Maybe adding an 'auto-auto-sync' feature.
The list goes on, but these are some very basic "features" that would make the software more useable. Until then, still trying out other options.
