It can take a little while for data to finish deleting. Plug-in your device and letting it sit with the app open for 15 minutes, then check again. Deletes will resume anytime the app runs in the background on your device.

I accidentally deleted a folder with some tracks in it. I noticed on the web based map they are still displaying. Can I recover these tracks and get them back on my iphone?
@scott
Yes, if the data has been archived to your account on gaiagps.com you can sync it back to the app by following this steps: Archiving and Unarchiving Data.
I waited 45 minutes. App frozen on "Deleting..." display. How long can it take to delete a file? Don't say that it is deleting the file tile by tile. I can download the entire OSM for New England in a minute from the web, and copy it to my SD card for my GPS.
Hi imaginarian,
I think there is a bug making map deleting slow. I've got an open bug report and we're looking into it.
Thanks for the reply...btw, I subscribed to the pro package, not so much because I thought that I'd use the niftly maps...though I might, at that...but because I want to support the effort. Because of my background, I quite realize the complexity of all that we are asking. That doesn't stop me from asking, and in some cases, wondering why my priorities for product dev are not the same as the Gaia team.
Nonetheless, we should all understand how complex all the multi-platform dev really is.
