Use the 'Download Maps for Track, Route, or Area' feature to download an offline map that follows your track or route. The width of the map may vary slightly depending on the selected map source and the location of the track/route/area.
1. Select a saved track, route, or area.
2. Tap the Action icon
3. Choose "Download Maps for Track/Route/Area."
4. Select a map sources to download and desired resolution
- High corresponds to zoom level 16
- Medium is 15
- and low is 13
To download maps that offer a higher zoom level than 16, you can use the standard map download tool.
5. You can check the status of your offline map for the track by tapping the spinning wheel.

I've tried this, but it doesn't seem to work! First it takes a (very) long time before my Iphone had calculated the download size for the maps, and then the 'lightest' version I can download is still 22GB! Am I doing someting wrong?
robtexel, it looks like you have a very long route -- the entire continental divide trail. For this, you may not be able to download the whole route at once.

You can un-archive your maps when you need them.
Hi Ashli, it sort of worked to download the maps, had to lower the zoom rate though. Hope this still gives enough detail to find my way along the route! Thanks for your help!
