Yup...OSM not downloadable is what I learned after the trip.
My personal go-to is generally Gaia Topo. The detail is great...too great, IMO, for traveling. I have the hardest time glancing at the screen and making out details. Try it.display some level of zoom, say 100m...swap twist Gaia Topo and OpenCycle (OCM). You lose that carefully etched look that I like so much, but gain so much in readability in OCM.
I don't find OCM in the list with OSM on Gaia.com. And to make matters worse, the dropdown list that displays all the maps does not scroll correctly. I can't see the bottom of the map unless I zoom Firefox out, and zoom out further the longer the list gets.
WRT OSM, I was able to download all of New England to my GPS as one large OSM file. Not sure why its not available for offline, but I'd be happy w OCM.
I found OCM under Topo maps, and added it to my layers. I saw a comment on a different page that I interpreted to mean that I could manage my downloads on gaiagps.com, but I don't see how to do that.
Hey imaginarian,
I answered your issue with logging into gaiagps.com from another post. Once logged in, you can go to https://www.gaiagps.com/datasummary/maps/ to delete downloads. Please send me an email (support@gaiagps.com) if you have further trouble, that way I can answer you in a more streamlined way :)
Where is the US Private land (boundary) overlay. Can’t find it anywhere and it’s the only feature I truly need
Aha! Private land layer is in the weather section, which makes no sense. Perhaps you should have an unpaid intern review these interface design decisions, because whoever you’re paying to do this, isn’t really in tune with your average user.
