Gaia Topo layer disappears except contour lines, error

Android app. Whether downloaded offline, or online, the Gaia Topo layer randomly but frequently vanishes. It is the only active layer and it becomes not visible (no map at all), especially when another layer was moved on top and then deactivated. This is a major bug. I cannot rely on Gaia in the field without downloading at least 2 topo map layers, or downloading Caltopo maps too, so Gaia won't leave me without a digital map! Restarting does not help. Uninstalling while backpacking is NOT a solution. Does anyone have this same problem with OnX? Thinking of switching, painful as it would be.

  Yep, had my fire layers set up and tested in advance of a calculated risk backpack with sierra fire and smoke scenario…got in deep…and app working well…then poof…nothing. I got lucky,but not entertained. Android Samsung Galaxy s8…too old?
