recent android version downgrades, disappointed
feedback from longtime user:
1)can't choose numeric download zoom level anymore. only low, medium, high. the difference in download size from one zoom level to the next is too large to reduce the granularity to 3 options. what really should have been done to make the app better is to let me select a single download area box then select custom, independent zoom levels for each map layer.
2)when selecting layers to view on map, the popup now only lets me see 3 or 4 layers with sliders at one time without scrolling. previously could see many more. minor but noticable usability issue, makes me think the devs don't even use the app.
3) visibility of waypoints/routes/tracks is not synced with the web map. pretty sure this was the default before.
more? we'll see. i haven't gone through my full hiking workflow yet for this season.
after years of what i perceived as minimal useful feature updates, i really thought gaia was turning a new leaf with all the good features over the last year or two. the nested folders, easy ability to show/hide things in bulk, new icons for waypoints, ability to download jsons and update manually and reupload. it was becoming a true easy to use geo-enabled database. now with this latest update i don't know what to think.

What do the 3 new options of download detail even mean? How do they translate to an absolute zoom level number? You guys really should hire a competent UX manager.

satellite maps are unusable offline with the new low, medium, high selection. either get a worthless, pixelated map or a multi gigabyte download.
