Via ferrata and difficult mountain paths still not showing up – why?
AnsweredIn the european alps there are several popular “Via Ferrata” but they still don’t show up on the default Gaia GPS topo map. Also regular highways with a SAC scale higher than 4 (difficult alpine mountain paths) are still not displayed on the topo map. Why is that?
In other words: Please finally show OSM highways tagged as “highway=via_ferrata” and OSM highways tagged as path with additional tag “sac_scale=demanding_alpine_hiking” or “sac_scale=difficult_alpine_hiking”.
Thanks

Hi @Filip,
For safety reasons, routes classified as either above T5 on the SAC Scale or "Via Ferrata" are excluded from the trails displayed on Gaia Topo.
Those routes may be found on the Mountaineering Routes Overlay, which is also based on OSM data.0 -
Hi Jay,
thanks for your answer, I would never had found that link to activate the Mountaineering Routes Overlay, well hidden :-)
But unfortunately I noticed that there are still no routes tagged as “Via Ferrata”.
e.g. this one: https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/23971675
