Caltopo Layers

I'm a big fan of Gaia in both the .com and IOS app forms!  I'm a little concerned about the recent news from Caltopo about them scaling back/eliminating some of their layers for license...

What, if any, plans exist to provide or develop updates for these layers?  A few examples I use regularly:

  • slope angle
  • shaded relief
  • USFS 2016
  • USGS Topo

    Hey @owen_richard,

    I'll paraphrase Andrew's response from reddit here for you:

    We’ll have replacement/improved maps for all of the CalTopo layers, built from source data. Some of the sources have already been updated, and we started working on this earlier this year, before CalTopo reached out.We will have replacement data before the contract term expires. We don't think most users will notice, map/data-wise, except some of the sources will have better data. We expect this to be a seamless transition.
