How are routes created on the main Top map?
AnsweredI love using Gaia to track my daily hikes with my dogs, I've discovered a ton of "new" (unmarked or abandoned) trails with it. I'm just wondering how/where the dotted lines which show existing trails come from? I have found a ton of old/abandoned trails by following the lines on Gaia, and I also have been on many marked and active trails which don't show up at all. I'm just wondering how those routes/maps get updated, and if I ever discover something new that's not on the map, is there a way for me to upload it and help make the map better?

Hi there,
Gaia Topo, as well as several other sources in the app, are based on OpenStreetMap data, an Open-source and public mapping project.
You can actually contribute to OSM in order to add or remove trails and features to the map. Read more about this and find instructions here: Contribute to OpenStreetMap
If you decide to contribute any updates to OpenStreetMap, you'll see the changes in Gaia GPS in two to three weeks.
