Significant Elevation Error
AnsweredOn a recent trip to Berg Lake, my track shows two elevation errors. The more concerning one is at around the 32km mark of the track, which is the downhill portion of the hike. The track shows a sudden uphill and then downhill of more than 500m. There's also a smaller error at around the 16km mark, showing a small downhill during the climb. This is an out and back hike, so the track should be roughly a mirror image.
Any thoughts on what's going on here and perhaps how to prevent these errors in the future?
Thanks!

Hi there,
I'm sorry you are having trouble with your elevation stats.
Gaia GPS uses your phones built-in GPS chip to report your elevation while out on a hike. Sometimes errors can accumulate on your phone's GPS receiver which can cause inaccurate information to get passed to the app.
On an iPhone, you can restart your phone a couple of times and this will clear any GPS receiver error that may have accumulated.0
