Custom Overlay
AnsweredHi fellow Gaia community members,
I absolutely love Gaia and use it to to plan all our monthly outdoor adventure trips! I live in Arizona where we have extreme temperatures and would love a way to quickly identify target elevations for further investigation. Example: It's July and 115F in Phoenix so I would like a way to highlight all elevations over 7,000' for further research in recreation opportunities. The same applies in the winter when I need to stay at lower elevations.
I'm a complete GIS noob and am wondering if it's even possible to develop a custom overlay to accomplish this with tools like mapbox and QGIS?
Thanks for the help,
Keith

Hi Keith,
This sounds like a great feature. While Gaia GPS is not able to create overlays like this you may be able to create an overlay like this in MapBox studio and then import it into Gaia GPS. I have not personally made a custom overlay based on elevation but MapBox Studio has a great step by step tutorial that walks through how to make custom maps: https://docs.mapbox.com/studio-manual/overview/
You can then import this overlay into Gaia GPS by following these steps.0
