Gaia Topo Map and Mines
First I want to say I love the Gaia Topo as a baselayer. It is my goto baselayer while on the trail. The very nice CalTopo USFS/USGS maps are just a backup for a second opinion. That said, I have some (I hope) constructive criticism - Gaia Topo is great and I just have some thoughts to make it better.
Why are mines featured so prominently on Gaia Topo? Sure they can be super interesting, but in mineral-rich areas it's just overwhelming. In my area - Boulder County Colorado - Gaia Topo shows more mines than any other geographic feature. I would much rather see other named features such as peaks, waterfalls, lakes, etc. than the mining ore cart. Once I zoom in a lot the mines would be very useful, but zoomed out I really don't want to see any of them, I would rather see the peaks and other named features. When I look at the image below, and I just think the area is a wasteland of open pit mines, which is not. Could the scale dependency of the POI's and labels be tweaked to show more of the natural features and less of the mines?
Thanks - and keep up the great work!

@DavidHaines
Thanks for posting and the feedback on the POIs. I'll share your comments on when mine icons are displayed with the rest of the team.0 -
I (also in Denver area) agree, too many mines, not interested.

I go the other way on this point. I would live to see more detail by drilling in. With boundaries, current or expired claim, whether it patented or regular claim (makes a big difference if its traversable or off limits and impassable), mine name if i want to research it etc. maybe it could be an additional layer tapping into the national database of mining claims that could be turned off or on? @Nathan

Were you guys able to find the on/off switch for the mines? I am like @fan-nascar and would prefer to see them. By default mine is turned off. @nathan

@chapmansam93 it is a map layer now, “mines and mineral resources” you may have to add it then turn the map layer on.
