Slope Angle outside Caltopo areas

Is there a way to find out the distance between the contour lines? If all possible perpendicular (90 deg) to the contour lines.  I am familiar with the Caltopo slope shading tool, but want a way to calculate slope on non-Caltopo areas.

  @apodawil
  You can use the create a route tool to draw a straight line between contours and view the distance and elevation profile.
