Street crossing snapping problem

I am trying to map a route I just ran in San Diego and the snap won't cross Pershing dr without snapping to the road. Is there a way to "cross" a street using the snap function?

  There was a missing section of trail that was preventing your route from snapping correctly, sorry about that. I added the missing section to Gaia Topo and you should be able to create the route as you want in about a week.
