Multiple map downloads stall

I am downloading multple Google Hybrid maps at nearly max file size. If I just have one downloading, I see speeds up to 150 mbps (wow!). But generally a quarter that.

If I have more than one going at once, they run perhaps 10 to 20 mbps and then adter a few minutes they all just quit.

Is this a server issue? I can do these one at a time but I would rather the entire queue work normally, so I can let it run overnight.

I am using a new iPad Mini 4 on a reliable 175 mbps wifi home network.

  John,

  Thanks for using Gaia GPS. A few notes:

  1. We don't officially support Google maps in the app, as their TOS do not allow maps to be downloaded for offline use.

  2. Regarding map downloads in general, I suggest making sure you leave the app open while the downloads complete, as they will get paused if you navigate away from the app.

  3. You might find Gaia Topo a faster alternative, as it's mobile optimized.

  Hi, I have successfully downloaded Google Road and Google Hybrid. They work great. Google Terrain “sort of” downloads. I get the terrain but no roads, bodies of water or cties. Just terrain.

  I eventually got all my Custom Source downloads done, I just had to run them one at a time.
