Can someone else locate you on the trail from a computer?
Hello,
I was wanting to see if its possible to track my location on my iPhone during a hike while allowing my spouse to view my location at home from our computer.
I am having trouble locating myself the computer, however it works fine on my iPhone. Whenever I hit the location symbol on the screen it states: Origin does not have permission to use Geolocation service.
Any advice?
Thanks!

Hi,
No, it isn't possible to track from your computer.
When you try to locate yourself on the computer, it is using your computer's location and not your phone's.
To correct the error "Origin does not have permission to use Geolocation service", you should open your browser's preferences clear out the location settings preference for gaiagps.com.
On Chrome, you can find that under Preferences > Advanced > Content Settings > Location.

Can you have it share your GPS data to other devices?

@Tlplw717 you can share your tracks, routes, waypoints, etc via email, text, or social media whenever you have an internet connection - it can't share your current location though. For that, you might want a device like a SPOT or a GoTenna.

@stonepitts2
There is a bug affecting the locate feature on gaiagps.com and I apologize for the inconvenience.
We are working on a project to update gaiagps.com which will also resolve this issue.0
